A group of people slacklining in a park

On Slacklining...

What’s the Craic with Slacklining?

First I went over to Buak Hard Park for the running, then for the yoga, and then I chanced upon the slacklining. It’s something I attempted down at the Sparch in Gawlay but never gave it a proper go.

It’s an incredible way to improve balance, focus, and core strength. And tbh, it just looks cool and there’s great sense of accomplishment when you get it!

Community & Experience

Beyond the physical benefits, slacklining fosters an amazing sense of community. Everyone progresses at their own pace, and there’s always support and encouragement from fellow slackliners.

At Buak Haad Park it’s super laid back, with good music playing, different groups chatting and trying out different slacks. Some are much longer than others and have different levels of slack tautness which can make it more difficult.

The classes are completely free but you can donate to Joey and his upcoming dreams for the Chiang Mai Slackline community at this GoFundMe.

Slacklining in Pai

After a few days in Chiang Mai I headed up to Pai with some friends and was delighted to see someone had set up a slackline at the Two Huts sunset location—a perfect opportunity for me to show off my new skill.

Giving it a go

Off I go

Looking back on it now it was such a fun time and definitely something I want to try again. If you ever get a chance to try then cert go for it!
