A wooden frog souvenir at a market

Cambodian Markets

Much like Thailand, Cambodia has its fair share of markets.

Siem Reap

Right by the aptly named Pub Street is a range of connected markets, selling all the usual bits and bobs. Loads of different spots all beside each other like a bit of a maze. Enjoyed wandering through it in the evening, event if I wasn’t buying much.

I saw the wooden frog thing here and made the mistake of looking at it for a fraction too long. The owner came up with a price, which got lower and lower the further I walked away. And while I was tempted, I decided against it.. for now.

Phnom Penh

In the Cambodian capital is an area known as the Russian Market, which was interesting and surprising to see. Busy traffic with market stalls all around.

Further up the town are more markets, and during the day a lot of fresh food vendors – all manner of fruit, veg, meat, and even a life turtle. It’s a smell sensory overload and I wasn’t keen on getting anything (especially considering I had just gotten over a bout of food poisoning) but it was interesting to see all the same.
