Kicking off April by getting the race in nice and early - the Carney Half Marathon on Easter Monday.
A challenging course with ominous weather forecast so it’s hard to know how it’ll go.
The PB is still a very visually pleasing 1:23:45 (@ Sheerin) which I did during the Galway Bay Marathon in 2021. I don’t see this being challenged just yet, but it would be nice to get a PB within the race distance itself, and not as part of a poorly executred full marathon.
Goals
I managed to run a 1:25 during the 3 Hour Track, but this was on a track (obviously enough) and very favourable conditions, so I don’t think I’ll be at that level.
| Goal | Target Time |
|---|---|
| A Goal | <1:25 |
| B Goal | <1:27 |
| C Goal | ~1:29 |
Result
So not only am I a DNF, I’m even a DNS!
Awoke on Easter Monday morning and my post-Prague cold had gotten a bit worse, so I didn’t fancy an hour and a half of physical exertion in the cold.
A real shame as it looked like a great event, and lots of friends from near and far took part, but better to rest up and go again. Also the organisers said they’d send me out the t-shirt which is nice, as it’s an absolute beauty!
At least I can count the Easter 5k as my April Race, although I was liking the idea of building up each month. Will try get an unofficial half done before month’s end.
