A house of mirrors

Weekend Reflections

I started the weekend with a trip westwards to Ballina where I embarked on some Parkrun tourism. It was a great chance to get an early run in, followed by coffee and a long overdue catch-up! 🔥

On the journey back, I stopped in at Skreen Graveyard. I don’t be out to this part of Sligo often, but it happened to be the 11th anniversary of a good friend’s passing, so I took a few moments to pay my respects.

After a quick turnaround at home, I hopped on the train to Dublin. The journey went by quick enough, with most of the time spent mulling over what photos to include in my Insta post for the recent wedding! As soon as I landed I was on the pints with the Twins before heading to The Olympia for the gig. The highlight was us being shushed (which was warranted tbf) but the concert itself was class and my second time seeing Public Service Broadcasting was well worth it. (Should have been third time but the first night of Beatyard 2015 left me in a hape).

We then explored a few more bars and I was delighted to bump into some of Galway’s greatest, including one of the Trifecta as well as one of the lads who is running a bar up in Dublin. End of the night was a typical blur but good craic was had. Woke up in good form but had a bit of a wait to get the train then.

Overall it was a great weekend, getting to catch up with friends I don’t see nearly often enough. I do enjoy a wee away day but after living at home for over a year now, it feels like it’s time to start planning my next big adventure.
