January '26 Training


It feels good to start a year with intention and running on my mind - akin to 2021 when I did Ray’s Marathon Challenge.

I had a slow start after New Year’s Eve Eve shenanigans, but got back into it on the weekend and kept up the training all month.

Goals

My overarching goal in January was to get into a good running routine, and also start my montly iniatives: the monthly race and the monthly challenge.

I started small, as that seemed like the best place to start. With the following:

Race: Sub 19minute 5k at a Sligo Parkrun

Challenge: Scotsman’s Run

Going forward I have dedicated pages for the races and challenges.

Training

The most significant part of the training was rejoining Galway City Harriers - tis good to be back. Doesn’t feel like that long I was a member and was nice to see some familar face.

Gradually easing into the training has been nice on the knee too, and felt good at the end of the month. A Dry Jan was had and that definitely helped the training too.

So I’m off to a good start, lets try keep that up.
