With the two June half marathons coming up within a fortnight of each other I’ve set the same goals for both. In an ideal world I’ll build on Ha Long and do better in Quy Nhon 🤞

Training
Little bit of a dip this month, which I attribute to being on the move. It was great to run around Chiang Mai again though, and I even got out to Chiang Mai University for a lovely lap around the lake. I didn’t know about this idyllic route back in January, although I was in the height of my slacklining phase at the time, so running took a back seat.
Up in Pai, after a few days off, I had another good run – my Garmin giving me a performance level of 7. I don’t have a clue what that means but it was green and first time seeing that high of a number!
While in Chiang Mai the news came in that Ha Long Half Marathon was pushed back a week. Told with 2 days notice, but since my plans are fairly loose, it wasn’t the end of the world.
A bit of a blessing in disguise as I loved Hanoi and did some great running around two different lakes there, including a coveted sub-20 5k around Hoàn Kiếm. Hadn’t seen a 19:XX in a good while.
A few days later I went for a run around West Lake – a beautiful, picturesque, 15km route. I left it a bit late in the day so the midday heat was upon me and I faded around 10k, but still managed a lovely lap of the place, taking tons of pics.
Then a few more days rest before Ha Long Half Marathon kickstarts the June running with a bang!
