Felt good to be back in my home away from home. I opted to return to the hut—not the biggest or fanciest gaff in the world but comfy enough and great proximity to the park.
Improvise, adapt, overcome
Feeling rejuvenated with the new year meant a good routine and work on this site is the reward! Cleared a lot of preliminary tasks and managed to launch the blog, thanks to some long days coding in the cafes by the park. Now I just need to backfill all the posts.
I do love getting into a flow with things and the routine of yoga, cafe, and coding really did wonders. Having Bloomin’ Moon in between the hut and the park was a blessing too.
A wee treat
Slacktivities
It was great being back at Buak Hard Park and making more use of the free morning yoga sessions there.
Move over, Yoga with Adriene
While at the park I noticed the slack line community so eventually gave it a go! Safe to say it became my entire personality and I plan to dedicate a post to it.
January running also off to a good start so thought I’d dabble in some half-assed Strava art while here.
One of the Slackers told me about the Old City Spa—a perfect place to unwind and especially appreciated after the running.
Slacking and saunas is my life now
Even gave the ice bath a go
A Small World
Met another sound English lad watching the Liverpool FA Cup game (another post will be dedicated to The Reds) so had a fun few evenings watching football and playing pool in around the UN Irish Pub.
On my walk home one evening I stopped by at a kebab shop and to my absolute surprise ended up meeting some pure sound Galway friends from home—one of whom I even worked with in Dunnes (Always Better Value)—which was gas! I had no idea they were travelling so it was so random to meet up.
I often heard stories of how it’s such a small world but didn’t expect it to happen to me. And this is actually the second occurrence—the first being during my brief but brilliant time in South America back in 2023.
Got chatting to some Irish girls on the flight from Buenos Aires to Rio De Janeiro and we mad plans to visit the Christ the Redeemer statue one of the days. On the taxi ride over we got chatting and it turns out they both lived in London—a city with a sizeable Irish community—but sure enough they both knew my brother and had been at a festival with him the summer before! Gotta love those moments ❤️
Maybe some day the South American stories shall be blogged!
